Persons With Disabilities

CAHS, in partnership with Connecticut’s Bureau of Rehabilitative Services (BRS), provides individualized financial education and coaching for participants of BRS’ Connect to Work Program – a 2 year program designed to provide disability beneficiaries the choices, opportunities and support they need to enter and maintain employment. The goal of the program is to reduce and, whenever possible, eliminate dependence on cash benefit programs by improving the financial literacy and skills of disabled people who receive social security benefits. CAHS works in partnership with local communities to assist people who have disabilities and their families.

CAHS’ Financial Coaches ensure that eligible participants gain the knowledge, confidence and skills to manage their finances, adopt positive financial behaviors, and fulfill their short and long term financial goals. Financial topics include budgeting, debt, credit, and savings.  Clients also develop a Financial Freedom Plan complete with financial goals, action steps, resources, references, and wraparound services that help them to move toward economic success.
